Power Systems Engineer
PHE GroupThe Project
Deep in the Snowy Mountains, the Cabramurra Township is undergoing a major electrical infrastructure transformation and you'll be the engineer leading it from Brisbane.
This isn't a desk job pushing paper. You'll be at the technical heart of a high-complexity HV/LV upgrade involving underground cabling, advanced substation technology, and critical infrastructure that regional and industrial communities depend on. You'll coordinate directly with on-site teams, drive design decisions, and see your engineering fingerprint on something genuinely significant.
If you want a project you'll still be talking about in ten years; this is it.
Responsibilities
- Specify and procure HV/LV substations — RMUs, transformers, switchboards, kiosk enclosures
- Design HV and LV cable routes including conduits, pits, submains, and distribution pillars
- Lead protection grading and arc flash studies using ETAP
- Drive earthing design via SafeGrid analysis
- Coordinate civil pad design alongside electrical requirements
- Manage connection agreements and associated studies with the Service Provider
- Liaise with surveyors, contractors, and stakeholders to keep delivery on track
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or trade-qualified with strong infrastructure project experience)
- Proven hands-on experience in HV/LV distribution, substations, and electrical infrastructure delivery
- Proficiency in ETAP, SafeGrid, and AutoCAD
- Strong grounding in protection systems, fault studies, and earthing design
- Natural collaborator — someone who can lead technical conversations and bring stakeholders with them
- PSSE/PSCAD experience is a genuine advantage
